Ram Machine

Press Machine: High-Performance Drying and Finishing Machine in the Textile Industry

A press machine, commonly known as a ram or ram machine, is a high-performance drying and finishing machine specially designed for the textile industry. It is used for drying, heat-setting, or finishing fabrics after wet processes. One of the most important features of press machines, or rams, is the ability to control the dimensional stability of textile products and perform drying, condensation, and thermofixation processes.

Working Principle of a Press Machine

Press machines are known as tension drying machines. Fabrics are secured from their edges by needles or pallets inside the machine and moved by a pair of moving chains. During this process, drying is achieved by sending hot air to the fabric. The length of press machines varies depending on the number of chambers, and the temperatures inside each chamber typically range between 140 – 180 degrees Celsius on average.

Advantages of a Press Machine

Press machines offer several advantages, including:

  • The ability to perform drying and condensation processes after impregnation of finishing agents such as flame resistance, wrinkle resistance, and water repellency with the help of the pre-fulard unit in front of the machine.
  • The capability to thermofix synthetic fabrics.
  • High drying speed, which allows for increased production capacity.
  • The application of the thermosol method (heat-fixation of dyed and printed fabrics).

Processes Performed in a Press Machine

Processes carried out in a press machine include drying, fixing, finishing (such as flame resistance, water repellency, and softness), and finishing processes. Press machines allow for adjusting the desired width and length of the fabric, eliminating wrinkles, and ensuring that the fabric passes through without touching any surfaces except for the fabric holders at the edges.

Importance of a Press Machine in Industry

Press machines hold a significant place in the textile industry and are among the most preferred drying machines. The press machine, with its working principle and technical specifications, provides high-performance drying and finishing processes. Additionally, it is designed to accommodate the production of various products.
